MYL Canada hosted an evening of open conversation with Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri at Jamia Al Mustafa, with Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa al-Arabi al-Qadri also in attendance. The format was simple: young people submitted their questions, and the Shaykh answered them.

The questions were honest and wide-ranging: the existence of Allah and the claims of atheism, secularism and the place of faith in public life, intellectual doubt, taqlid and ijtihad, digital distraction and dependence on social media, using artificial intelligence to look for religious knowledge, the company we keep and the harm of backbiting, honouring parents when we disagree, and governing the ego when a group decision goes against our own view.

Drawing on the Qur’an, the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ and the classical scholarly tradition, Shaykh Hammad showed that Islam still offers a coherent framework for modern life. He encouraged the youth to face hard questions sincerely, to tell genuine inquiry apart from recurring anxiety, and to seek answers through qualified scholarship, sound reasoning and spiritual discipline.

The gathering was attended by Sufi Tariq Mahmood, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Canada; Allama Ahmed Awan, Director of MQI Canada; Shaykh Zia-ul-Haq Razi; Shaykh Adnan Sohail of Minhaj Welfare Foundation; and Shaykh Abdullah Ahmad al-Qadri. The evening closed with recognition of MYL’s volunteers.
